The Queen at Ninety - Arran group at the Patron's Lunch, The Mall, London.

On Sunday June 12th 2016, The Mall in St James’s Park was transformed for its largest ever street party to celebrate The Queen’s patronage of over 600 charities and organisations on the occasion of her 90th birthday.

The Patron’s Lunch was the climax to a fantastic weekend of celebrations. It began with a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday followed by Trooping the Colour on Saturday and culminating in The Patron’s Lunch as the celebratory finale on the Sunday.

The Patron’s Lunch was an iconic event recognising the un-relenting support and service our Monarch has given to the community over her 63 year reign. And it is this commitment to helping others that is cause for a National and Commonwealth wide celebration, with the very people she has helped over the decades being at the centre of this event.

Over ten thousand people attended the lunch and among them were a group from Kilmory on the Isle of Arran.

Pictured are Phyllis Picken (on the right) and Amanda McDonald (on the left). They are part of the Kilmory Bus Group in Arran which was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2010.

Representatives from the Award winning Groups were nominated to attend the lunch and needless to say the ladies thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
