Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland, Centenary – 13th April 2024

Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston Branch of the Royal British Legion, Scotland celebrated the Centenary of their formation on Saturday 13th April. To mark the occasion there was a military parade through Saltcoats followed by an interdenominational service at St Mary's Church. During the service there were a number of contributions outlining the history of the formation of the branch. Deputy Lieutenant Matt Smith delivered an address on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant reflecting on the work of the branch and the considerable support given locally to veterans and their families. Messages of congratulations were delivered personally by the national Chair of Legion Scotland and politicians representing Westminster, Holyrood and North Ayrshire Council. Most significantly, a message of congratulations was received from His Majesty King Charles III acknowledging the work of the branch and wishing them well for the future.

In the evening a very well supported social event was held in Ardrossan which had contributions from the West of Scotland Military Wives Choir and the Isle of Cumbrae Pipe Band.
