Remembrance Sunday - 8th November 2020

Due to the restrictions arising from the coronavirus pandemic Remembrance Sunday this year was unlike any other in our history. Unfortunately the processions, parades and services at War Memorials throughout the country had to be cancelled and alternative arrangements put in place to ensure that the commemoration could safely take place.
Many members of the public participated at home and remembered all who had lost their lives during the various conflicts in their own personal way. The Lord- Lieutenant, Sheriff Iona McDonald OBE, attended a Service in the Auld Kirk and laid a wreath on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen at the War Memorial in Ayr.

Deputy Lieutenants also laid poppy wreaths at memorials across the County.
Deputy Lieutenants Matt Smith OBE and David Dickson are pictured below whilst laying wreaths in Stevenston and Troon respectively.
