Raising the Flag Ceremony, Armed Forces Day, 18th June 2016, Ayr.

Armed Forces Day is a national event to demonstrate support for members of the armed forces, veterans, cadets and their families. Although a national event it is also supported locally through a number of events ranging from flag raising ceremonies to fundraising events for charity and military displays. The Lord Lieutenant participated in the Flag Raising Ceremony organised by South Ayrshire Council at the Seafront in Ayr on Saturday 18th June. The flag was raised by Private Anthony Sanchez, 52 Lowland 6th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (6 Scots) and Trooper Michael Christie - The A (Ayrshire and Carrick¹s Own Yeomanry) Squadron, Scotland and North Irish Yeomanry.
