Queen's Birthday Honours List 2017

Statement by John L Duncan, CVO, QPM, Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran


Six individuals from across Ayrshire and Arran were included in the Queen's Birthday Honours List that was published on Saturday 17th June2017. They have a diverse range of interests and represent a broad spectrum of society, but all have been recognised by Her Majesty for the significant contribution that they have made to local communities in which they live, and work that they do on a national and international basis.

Mr Duncan said “I would like to send my sincere congratulations and best wishes to the six residents of Ayrshire and Arran who received awards in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. I would also like to thank those who nominated them, and recognised the contribution that they have made to our local communities and to society in general”.

Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)

Mrs Evelyn Isabel AITKEN

Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM)

Mr Frank MCHUGH. 
Dalmellington                                            
  For services to the Scouting Movement and the Community in East Ayrshire.

The awards will be presented at a later date.

The Lord-Lieutenant also remarked: "There are many people in towns and villages throughout Ayrshire and Arran who do so much for others and have yet to be recognised.  Therefore, I urge anyone who is aware of any individual they consider worthy of an award to nominate them. It is a relatively easy process and is open to all.
