On Wednesday 5th November Major Rab Dunlop Officer Commanding. 251 (Ayrshire) Squadron, 154 (Scottish) Regiment Royal Logistics Corps hosted a briefing session and update for the Lord Lieutenant Sheriff Iona McDonald OBE, members of the Lieutenancy and the Provosts of the three Ayrshire local authorities in the Army Reserve Centre, Irvine.

 

 This was a very informative and enjoyable evening that gave an insight into the workings of the Reserve and Cadet Forces in Ayrshire .

 

 Presentations were given by senior officers and representatives of:

 

 A (Ayrshire) Squadron, Scottish and Northern Irish Yeomanry

B Company, 6th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland

251 (Ayrshire) Squadron, 154 (Scottish) Regiment Royal Logistics Corps 

Irvine Sea Cadets

 West Lowland Battalion Army Cadet Forces.

 

 A very special welcome was also given to the Officer Commanding  from the Royal Canadian AirForce Forward Operating Area based at Prestwick who highlighted the international role of RCAF in supporting NATO missions .

 

The presentations highlighted the  wide range of training, education and leadership opportunities that are available and how they benefit the individual in civilian life.

 

Following the briefing session the Lord Lieutenant said “ My sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed to making this evening so successful.  I would encourage anyone with an interest in joining the Reserve or Cadet Forces to have a look at the opportunities that they present”
