Message from Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, Sheriff Iona McDonald OBE on the passing of Her Majesty the Queen

Our late sovereign Queen Elizabeth the Second will be remembered with great affection and gratitude not only for the lifetime of duty and service given over seven decades but also for her charm and keen sense of humour. She had a gift of putting everyone she met at ease and will be forever remembered by the people of Ayrshire.
Robert Burns, the National Bard and an Ayrshire man, perhaps described our feelings at this sad time better than any words that I can write in his elegy on the late Miss Burnet of Monboddo
