Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla – Community Events

Deputy Lieutenant Jane Evans is pictured above with Hope Grant, a resident of Haylie House in Largs as they unveiled a picture of the King to celebrate the Coronation.
Over fifty community events to celebrate the Coronation took place in Ayrshire and Arran during the Coronation weekend. They included;
• Ceilidhs
• Afternoon teas
• Children’s parties
• Social events and Big Lunches in churches and care homes
• Village clean ups
• Street Parties
• Classic car show
• Street Fayre
Many of the towns and villages were also decorated with bunting and flags.
His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran Sheriff Iona S McDonald OBE said “I would like to express my sincere thanks to the organisers of all of these events. I am sure that they represent a lot of hard work behind the scenes to ensure that they were successful and fitting for this very special occasion”
The Tattiehowkers Ceilidh Band played at a Community Ceilidh in Darvel
