Armed Forces Day – 2024

Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday each June, falling this year on 29 June. It is an opportunity to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.
Several related events were held across Ayrshire ranging from flag raising ceremonies to family festivals.
The Lord -Lieutenant attended the festival in Ayr and following the flag raising visited a few of the stalls. Her visit to the St John Scotland area was particularly poignant as she was recently invested as an Officer of the Order of St John in Scotland. The Lord-Lieutenant is pictured below with a number of volunteers from the organisation who do so much in Ayrshire especially in relation to the provision of defibrillators and associated training.

Deputy Lieutenant William Stafford attended the flag raising ceremony at the Council HQ in Kilmarnock and joined the Provost of East Ayrshire, many Elected Members, Veterans, representatives of the emergency services and members of the military community.
