95th Anniversary of Maybole Branch of Royal British Legion - Unveiling of Plaque.

Deputy Lieutenant William Stafford recently unveiled a plaque to commemorate the 95th Anniversary of the Maybole Branch of the Royal British Legion.

The event was also attended by the Vice Lord Lieutenant, John Dalrymple Hamilton, in his capacity of President of the Branch, the Provost of South Ayrshire, Helen Moonie, and the local MP, Corri Wilson.

The plaque was dedicated by Father Steven McGrattan.

It is understood that Maybole branch was the first branch of the Royal British Legion in the United Kingdom when it was established on June 28th 1921.

The plaque is to be erected on the building where the first meeting of the branch was held in Whitehall, Maybole.
