71st Glasgow Taxi Outing to Troon - June 2016

Deputy Lieutenant William Stafford represented the Lord Lieutenant at the 71st Glasgow Taxi Outing for Sick Children to Troon on 15 June 2016 and along with the Provost of South Ayrshire, Cllr Helen Moonie and representatives of Troon Community Council welcomed over 100 taxis to Troon got their annual visit. The trip started in 1945 with just three taxis and has grown to providing a day out for nearly 400 youngsters. The taxis and their drivers are turned out in fancy dress. The Community Council and the community of Troon work in very close partnership with the Taxi owners on all aspects of the trip to ensure that it is a success and that it is an enjoyable day for all concerned . The event was also supported by Police Scotland through the Pipe Band and the Road Policing Motorcycle Branch.
