2 SCOTS, Homecoming, Ayr – 5th October 2018

A number of years ago, 2 SCOTS Battalion, The Royal Highland Fusiliers, The Royal Regiment of Scotland were awarded the Freedom of Ayr by South Ayrshire Council and on Friday 5th October exercised their rights by marching through the town with bayonets fixed and pipes playing. Deputy Lieutenant David Dickson who, himself, has a distinguished military career, represented the Lord-Lieutenant at the Homecoming event and took the Salute outside the Wallace Tower.
After a Drumhead Service at the County Buildings approximately 200 soldiers marched down the Main Street which was lined with more than 500 cheering spectators and supporters.
The Battalion has recently spent 6 months in Iraq, Southern Sudan & Cyprus.
